Many people told me that when you buy a car by installment; by taking bank hire purchase, you are bond to a fixed amount of loan plus interest. That means, you will have no point to make early settlement since its interest won't be reduced. However, few months ago, I just found out this saying is wrong.
Few months ago, I went to a car showroom to have a look at their newly launched model. I was kind of interested, and went deep into negotiation to trade in my current car. They helped me check with the bank for the amount required for early settlement, and it turned out to be quite an amount lower than my current left over loan.
Yesterday, while surfing through net, I happened to come across this website which provides few interesting
calculation tools.
So, if you ever wonder how much will it be the early settlement for your car hire purchase, here's the webpage for you to input your car loan amount, interest rate, installment period, and it will calculate for you: http://www.autoworld.com.my/v2/tools/loan_settlement.asp
You will also notice on top of the webpage, there are few other tools such as Car Insurance Calculator, Road Tax, Loan Payment Calculator, etc.
I think these are important tools for car owners and to-be owners.
(I am not sure if this is applicable to other countries, as this website is mainly for Malaysia.)

The Online Books Page
Think of reading, think of going to book shop. Oh...it could be to Library as well.
However, what if you are lazy to walk out the door?
This question leads me to type "online book" into google search box.
The first site in the results list is:
The Online Books Page
http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/
It's a cool website that I would like to recommend to anyone who's looking for an online source of books. Nevertheless, it's free.
Happy Reading...

Network Manager (a choice)
Yesterday, I came across an old video when I was housekeeping my HDD. Part of this video recommended a network tool for computer users. It helps to manage network connections when you have to connect your computer to different network locations.
NetSetMan
I have tried this program, and it seems helpfull. You might find it usefull.
Happy trying.

An Accident - Nov 17, 2009
An accident happened live just in front of my eyes, on Nov 17, 2009.
The silver came from left turning into my right lane, but the black came from right and had screeching braking before collided onto the side of the silver, which caused the silver being diverted and flew towards the traffic light post.
I am lucky I stopped just in time to be away from the crash, before the traffic light collapsed just few inches ahead of me. The traffic light would have dropped on my car if I arrived there earlier for about 1 to 2 seconds.
Importantly, the traffic light post stopped the car from heading towards me...otherwise, it would have hit head on me.
The impact was quite severe, but no casualty.

msfont.dll (computer virus)
Yesterday morning, my antivirus software detected a virus named msfont.dll.
It’s located in the folder c:/windows/system32/.
The antivirus software failed to remove it, neither can quarantine it.
I was a bit worried at that time.
I then tried to delete it manually at the folder, but also not able to delete.
Now I’m more worried.
I searched for information on this virus, and found one discussion at http://groups.msn.com/4pcexperts/general.msnw?action=get_message&mview=0&ID_Message=16639&LastModified=4675667198270013869 .
So, I decided to try to enter safe-mode to perform scanning.
And yes, it worked. In safe-mode, the antivirus software was able to quarantine the msfont.dll.
So now, I can delete it.
Phew…I thought I had to reformat my PC already. Lucky there’s information shared on the net. That’s what the internet is for. . .

S.A.D also stands for Self Advance Development
I was chatting with a friend today, and our topic was related to self development. So, he once mentioned SAD in the chat.
At first i didn't know what this abbreviation in his context is. Therefore I asked him what’s it stand for?
The answer is: “Self Advance Development”.
So...no more 'sad' feeling. It's technically good.
I guess we can go on and on to create the words for this abbreviation, never ending.

ATM card eaten by the machine
Unlucky or lucky? That’s the question.
I got my ATM card eaten into the cash machine…!!! Haih…!!! I’m so disappointed to have made this happened.
How did it happen?
Well, I visited an ATM station, and deposited some cash into the machine. It’s New Year, so, I thought wanted to have some input into my saving account on New Year day. So, after deposited the cash into that machine, I took the transaction slip, and walked out from the machine, folded the slip, and put it into my wallet. So, what’s wrong with that? Seems nothing wrong, right? But no, I forgot the ATM card. It’s my ATM card.
When I had that thought flashed into my mind, I turned my head to see the machine, and saw my card stuck out from the slot. There was also beeping sound beeping earlier, which I didn’t hear. I quickly ran towards the machine, to try to grab my card out, but I was too late. I saw my card being pulled into the machine just a split second before I reach it. Haih…!!! Gone…!!! I tried to press this press that at the machine, tried to get my card out, but to no sign that it can be taken out. There’s no option available onscreen for the card return. So, the only option for me is to call the bank customer service line. After got through all the long length recorded voice answering machine of the customer service line, got connected to a personnel. Reported my case, and verified my personal details, the instruction I got from the bank personnel was to visit the same brunch of ATM that ate my card again tomorrow or any other day. This is because it’s holiday today, and so no one works. It’s new year. No one can attend to my matter. Great! Luckily there’s someone answered my call and recorded my report. They have temporary blocked my card from any usage, until I attended the brunch myself to collect my card back. So now, I have to take a day off from work, to visit this bank to collect my card.
So, back to my earlier question. Am I unlucky, or lucky? Let me explain.
Unlucky: because I was so forgetful; forget to pull out my card immediately after completed my transaction. Which caused this experience. The result is, I have to waste money on phone call I made to the bank, and also will have to take a day off to attend to the bank to get my card back
Lucky: because I’m relieved that the card is being protected from being used by any unauthorized person. This is because I made the report immediately after the case, and the bank did blocked the card.
This is a very important experience I had.
Lesson learned: Always make your report to the bank immediately after facing anything wrong with your bank transaction. The bank will help to protect your properties.
It’s a very good new year experience I had for the year 2008.
Anyway…HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008 TO ALL READERS.
ALL THE BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL, and, always be alert when performing anything. Don’t be so forgetful like me here. Haha…!!!
Cheers.
