RLC band-pass filter design calculator (online)

This is a nice RLC Calculator tool.
I came across it through a YouTube video of inductively powered led circuit design.

Electronic Circuit Simulator

It's been a while I haven't looked around for electronic circuit simulation software. Just random search and found this website to be quite informative.
https://www.circuitstoday.com/circuit-design-and-simulation-softwares
It listed a few open source circuit simulators. I'm not familiar with most of them, but heard of MultiSim and PSpice before. I'll have to read and go through the software to familiarise.

Steve Jobs' life [Video]

Many people dislike Steve Jobs. Many still like him. The likes or dislikes are all for different reasons.
Leave those personal feelings alone, this video would be a good record mapped Steve's life.
You will need an hour of your time for this video. I spent my time on it and I think it's worth.
Motivation, Ideas, Examples, Emotions, Roads, etc, are contents I see in it.
I think everyone should just watch this at least video for once.

Gearless Wind Turbine

We have seen wind turbine for quite a while. It's used to generate electricity by wind.
Wind turbine is installed facing opposing wind direction which is predicted to provide strongest or fastest wind speed. The stronger the wind, the faster the wind-turbine turns. The blades of the wind turbine are connected to a shaft which further connected to set of gears, which is then driving electric generator, which will be transferred to battery storage for further usage or maybe direct to some appliances.

Today, there's a new wind-turbine design developed by Windtronics, which is "gearless".
It's called the Honeywell Wind Turbine.

It works by obtaining electric energy from magnetic fields induced when wind turbine blades turn by the force of the wind. It has a system of magnets and stators that line its outer ring to capture power at the blade tips where speed is greatest. This design has minimal mechanical resistance and drag thereby allowing the turbine to start turning in winds as low as 0.5 mph and generate energy at 2 mph.
This is an interesting new wind-turbine development.
Here's the video showing it in action:

Transparent/Glass Displays Technologies

This is the future of digital displays.
Communication and interaction everywhere.
I think Iron Man Movie has shown a lot of these.
This in turn telling us that Glass, Plastics and Thin-Film technologies are to grow.
Electronic circuits in glass is also an interesting technology. Flexible Integrated Chips? Yes!

Recall of Garmin nüvi GPS Devices [updates]

I have been thinking if there's any reported case for this issue, and I just come across this article. It said there have been 9 report cases of battery overheating, but there's no injury reported. That means battery-on-fire has not been seen. It's good Garmin reacts quickly to this before worst case appears.
Following are some updated details i captured from http://www.oyetimes.com/news/canada/5951-recall-of-garmin-nuevi-gps-devices

Product Name: Garmin nüvi GPS Devices

Full Product Description:
This recall involves the battery in certain Garmin nüvi models of GPS devices, which were manufactured by a third party supplier. Affected batteries are found in nüvi devices with model number 200W, 250W, 260W, 7xx and 7xxT (where xx is a two-digit number). The model number, as well as the serial number, can be found on a label on the back or bottom of the nüvi.

Only some of the affected model numbers have the recalled battery.

Hazard Identified: The battery can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
There have been 9 reports of the battery overheating in the United States.
Neither Garmin nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries relating to the use of these products in Canada.

Corrective Action:
Consumers should immediately examine their Garmin nüvi GPS device for the model and serial number (on back or bottom label). If the device has one of the affected model

nüvi Battery PCB Recall [Notice]

To everyone who owns/carries Garmin GPS,
Please take note of this battery recall by Garmin for models:
  • nüvi 200W, 250W, & 260W
  • nüvi 7xx (where xx is a two-digit number)
Garmin is voluntarily recalling certain nüvi devices that contain a specific battery that was manufactured by the battery supplier within a limited date code range. Garmin has identified potential overheating issues when certain batteries manufactured by the third-party battery supplier within a limited date code range are used in certain Garmin nüvi models with a specific printed circuit board (PCB) design. It appears that the interaction of these factors can, in rare circumstances, increase the possibility of overheating, which may lead to a fire hazard. Although there have been no injuries or significant property damage caused by this issue, Garmin is taking this action out of an abundance of caution.

You can determine your nüvi model number by looking at the label on the back or bottom of your nüvi.

The recall can be read at https://my.garmin.com/rma/recallLanding.faces
Please click here to view the Garmin nüvi® Product Safety Recall Letter.

Regards,
I am one of Garmin GPS owners too. So, I am replacing the battery.

Safety comes first.

Nobody - Transformers style "Wonderbots"

This is one of the very good robotic programming I have ever seen.
I wonder how long does it take to program these robots to dance so synchronized to the song.
I want Nobody Nobody but...you... :) Dancing Robots.
Good job to the creators. Great ones.
